Illustration is a very effective way to catch the audience’s eye. I always feel very up to it. Plus it’s usually more affordable for the client, and that’s a very convincing argument these days. Sometimes I solve it my self as I’m confortable illustrating (you can take a look at my “homemade illustration” post and tell me what you think), but if the budget allows me I try to hire some good professional. This assures a better result and gives me the chance to expand my collaborators network :)
